Next to influence, the most important thing that you want to accomplish as a leader is that you have a strong, positive impact on not only the lives of those you lead, but an impact in everything that goes on around you and your organization. The idea is to give as much of yourself that you possibly can to the coaching, teaching, training, development, and so forth so that everyone under your influence is prepared to take action and make a positive difference in somebody else’s life when they get the opportunity. The most important factor that you have as a leader is your influence. Without it, you will not be able to accomplish anything. No matter how hard you try, if you do not have a solid influence on others, they will not do anything you wish them to. The goal is to get the banana, each monkey knows it, and is compacted into a minimalistic mode of thinking to fight for the same object no matter the consequences. Whereas if they all just escaped the barrel, they would realize there are more bananas outside the barrel. With this analogy, it can be proven that groups are often narrow-minded to what is only true within their individual scope of understanding; completely disregarding any outside possibilities. It is truly this limiting factor that leads to little or no alternatives within the group.
